Artist Statement

Dayeon Lee is a Korean traditional and contemporary dancer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned her degree in Dance from Sejong University in Seoul, South Korea, with a focus on Korean traditional dance forms including Salpuri and Taepyeongmu — two of the most revered classical forms in the Korean canon.

"Jeongjungdong — stillness within motion, motion within stillness."
Each gesture is given room to breathe before it resolves into the next.

She currently teaches Korean traditional dance at Hansamo in San Ramon, where she choreographs and directs student performances. As a performer and educator, she continues to share the beauty and cultural heritage of Korean dance through her own artistry and by guiding her students, who regularly perform throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
